Roma Eisenstark is a Beijing-based freelance journalist. Her articles have appeared in Caixin, Slate, China-US Focus, City Weekend Beijing, and The China Capitalist. She has covered a wide-range of topics and has written everything from hard news to features, opinion pieces and even local business reviews.

A native of Los Angeles, Eisenstark first came to Beijing in 2001 as a high school exchange student, during which time she lived for nine months with a Chinese host family. She studied abroad again during her time at Oberlin College, where she majored in East Asian Studies. She is passionate about expanding understanding of Chinese society and culture. Additionally, she is also dedicated to advancing social justice issues and worked for four years in San Francisco as a social worker, assisting formerly homeless individuals.
